NGB is a pay TV service operator on the DTT platform. Being norm neutral enables us to work in any part of the world to achieve a multitude of objectives. We currently have projects underway in various countries in emerging markets.

Turnkey Projects

 Ghana - Ghana is an economically progressive and politically stable country in West Africa with a population of 23 million and more than 2.5 million TV households. In cooperation with Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, NGB has been running a trial DTT transmission in the capital, Accra, which will come to an end in the near future. These trials also include the popular local free-to-air channels GTV, NET2, TV3, TV Africa, and Viasat 1, as well as the international channel KidsCo.

The Ghanaian operations are run by our Country Manager, Yvonne Osei-Tutu, and her team of experienced local professionals. NGB Ghana is organized as a joint venture with local partners, and chaired by Mr Kojo Fosu, CEO of Amadeus Ltd. NGB targets to launch commercial operations in Ghana in the beginning of 2010 with an affordable yet attractive digital pay TV service tailored specifically for the Ghanaian market. Consumer will be able to top-up their channel selections as they wish on a pay as you go basis.

 Kenya - Kenya has, as one of the first African countries, decided to implement DVB-T standard and digitalization is set to be complete by 2012. Kenya is considered a stable country with favorable economic development and a TV penetration above 60% in urban areas. Together with its local partner, Digital Broadcasting Transmex, NGB started operations in Nairobi during 2009 and opened its first office in November of the same year. NGB works closely with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) which is leading the overall digital transmission process in Kenya.

The Kenyan operations are run by our Country Operations Manager Evelyn Ngundo and a team of experienced local proffesionals. Together with its local partners, NGB Kenya will provide the audiences with one of the most balanced entertainment pay TV packages targeted at the mass market in Kenya. The bouquet of Pay TV service based on MPEG 4 technology which has been adopted by KBC and approved by the Communications Commission of Kenya as the standard technology. NGB targets to launch commercial operations in Kenya in the 2nd quarter of 2010.

 Uganda - NGB has established an office in Kampala along with its local partner DBU. DBU is run by two Ugandan business men namely Kwame Rugunda and Nicholas Rwendeire. Martin Abuya is the CEO in Uganda. NGB Is closely monitoring the progress of the forthcoming digital migration policy to be issued by the Ministry of information and communications technology and we work closely with UCC and the Broadcasting Council. Further progress on this project is expected in 2010.

The Ugandan operation is run by our CEO – Martin Abuya and his team of experienced local professionals who are ably guided by our local shareholders Kwame Rugunda and Nicholas Rwendeire . In 2010, NGB targets a commercial launch of an attractive yet affordable pay TV bouquet containing a mix of local and International channels. Consumers will be able to purchase their set top boxes, pay subscriptions and top up their channels selection on a pay as go basis at approved distribution outlets near their homes.
